# PCBKit

PCBKit is a circuit board design tool for people and their AI agents. A board is a git
repository of text files: design.pcbkit (the PCBKit language: units, typed nets and pins, parts,
blocks, net classes, rules, pours) and a few block files. PCBKit checks the design, routes it and
draws it in 2D and 3D. One Rust core runs as the pcbkit command line and, compiled to WebAssembly,
as the app in the browser.

## The plugin (Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex)

One plugin gives an agent PCBKit's tools (the remote MCP server https://mcp.pcbkit.io/mcp) and two skills:
how to design, change, check, route and export a board, and how to start a person's first board.
The tools run on PCBKit's servers; nothing runs on the person's computer and no account is
needed to start. Source: https://github.com/seralexeev/pcbkit-plugins

In Claude, ChatGPT or any other MCP client: add https://mcp.pcbkit.io/mcp as a custom connector. In Claude
and ChatGPT the board opens in the conversation as an interactive app. Start with the tool
`help` (`help { topic: "quickstart" }` has a whole first board).

## In the app

The app has an API on the page for agents: list the commands and their JSON Schemas, call a
command, follow long work as jobs, read a journal of what changed, and read what the person sees.
Agents use the API instead of clicking through the interface. Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode,
Cursor, Gemini CLI or any other agent that can drive Chrome can use it: over the Chrome DevTools Protocol, through a browser extension, or by launching
Chrome from a script. Where the browser supports WebMCP, the commands are offered there too. The
command line runs the same commands.

No sign-up and nothing to install: open the app in a browser. A project is either a folder on
your computer (a git repository you open in the app) or kept in the browser's storage; the app
keeps nothing of it on our side.
